Self-supported Pt nanoclusters via galvanic replacement from Cu2O nanocubes as efficient electrocatalysts.

چکیده
A novel synthesis method for self-supported Pt nanoclusters (Pt NCs) comprised of interconnected 2-3 nm Pt nanoparticles was developed by employing the galvanic replacement process between Cu2O nanocubes and PtCl4(2-) ions. This discovered synthesis procedure eliminates the use of any polymer capping agents and enables a catalytically clean Pt surface. It is determined that the presence of H(+) ions is crucial for initializing the galvanic replacement reaction. The electrocatalytic performances of the Pt NCs were tested for both oxygen reduction and methanol oxidation reactions, which showed higher electrochemical activity and greater long-term durability as compared with commercial Pt materials.

Cu2O nanocrystals with different morphologies are synthesized via a reductive solution route by controlling the reaction time and using different capping agents. Introducing poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) leads to nearly monodispersed Cu2O nanocubes with 40 nm size and dominant {100} crystal planes. With prolonged reaction time, the nanocubes are truncated and transformed into sphere-like nanocrys...
متن کاملOptical properties of Pd-Ag and Pt-Ag nanoboxes synthesized via galvanic replacement reactions.
Silver nanocubes dispersed in water were transformed into Pd-Ag or Pt-Ag nanoboxes by adding either Na(2)PdCl(4) or Na(2)PtCl(4). By controlling the amount of noble metal salt added, and therefore the molar ratio of Na(2)PdCl(4) or Na(2)PtCl(4) to Ag, we could tune the surface plasmon resonance peak of the nanostructures across the entire visible spectrum, from 440 to 730 nm. Replacement of Ag ...

متن کاملOxygen reduction catalyzed by gold nanoclusters supported on carbon nanosheets.
Nanocomposites based on p-mercaptobenzoic acid-functionalized gold nanoclusters, Au102(p-MBA)44, and porous carbon nanosheets have been fabricated and employed as highly efficient electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Au102(p-MBA)44 clusters were synthesized via a wet chemical approach, and loaded onto carbon nanosheets. Pyrolysis at elevated temperatures led to effective remova...
